Craft Projects Using Doilies A cheap and effective Card Topper: A little goes a long way. Use a corner of a doily to decorate a card - I use them in my cup-cake card designs. Doilies can be found in golds, silvers and in bright colours, as well as the traditional whites and creams. Less is more when it comes to using doilies to decorate a card, so keep that in mind. Doilies are usually 2 or 3 ply (they come in very thin layers), so when sticking a doily onto a card be sure that you remove one or two of the top layers, as in some cases they will drop off as only the bottom layer is stuck onto the card. For silver and gold doilies you'll have to peel off the top layer (which is the one containing the colour) and then stick it directly onto the card. Use the curves and patterns to your advantage. Some doilies have lovely rose patterns on them - carefully cut them out and you have lovely embossed looking roses to decorate your card.
Make Your Own Handmade Cards - Now enrolling for Workshops in South Dublin, Ireland. This blog provides details about my card making Workshops and events. I am passionate about experimenting and using everyday items to adorn cards. A good card maker should be able to make a card using what you have in your kitchen drawer.
