December

Place & Date: Next fair is December 20th in Belarmine Square, Stepaside, Co. Dublin

Place & Date:
Holy Trinity National School Christmas Fair. Sunday December 7th

I attended this fair sharing a table with my arts & crafts partner Janette, who was doing a good trade in her sorting hogs - made from old books. Our goodies, hogs and variety of handmade cards sold well and we are a regular at this fair now. Photo of me and my giant fairy door.

Place & Date:
Ballyroan Parish Christmas Fair, Rathfarnham. Wednesday evening December 3rd

I attended this fair sharing a table with my mum, who was doing a good trade in her Harry Clarke impression cards. These are cards with high quality prints of her series of watercolour paintings which are impressions of the stained glass works of Harry Clarke. Though we managed to sell some cards at this fair, the main interest was in Fairy Door decorations and candy canes!

November

Place & Date:
Queen of Angels primary school Christmas Fair. November 30th

I brought along my large fairy door to promote my new Fairy Door decorations and Fairy Door cards. These cards come with a detachable fairy door decoration.

Fairs in 2013

Place & Date:
Holy Trinity National School Christmas Fair. Sunday December 1st

I attended this fair sharing a table with my arts & crafts partner Janette. We had a 'make your treat plate for santa' make-and-do section, and a make a card section too. We also stocked some cool knits from other parents and grandparents. Our candy-cane related gifts and decorations sold very well, and the children were delighted with our marshmallow bags.

April

Place & Date:
Cabinteely Craft Fair, Cabinteely Pastoral Centre, Cabinteely Village. Sunday April 22nd 10.30 - 2 pm

I brought largely a lot of Confirmation & Holy Communion cards as this is the season for these occasions. These cards sold well, as did the Mother's Day Cup Cake Cards (with free sweet attached). My surprise seller were the Easter Chick cards featuring a cute fluffy chick.

I hosted a Make & Take card table ( far left-hand-side of the photo below) where children & adults bought a blank card for 1 euro and used my 'card candy' to create beautiful St Patricks Day cards & other themes. This proved very popular, and next month I'm thinking of dedicating half my table to card making to give the kids more room to work, and I'll bring along some extra nice card candy!

Fair Theme:
General crafts, baked goods & jewellery

February

Place & Date:
Naomh Olaf GAA Club, Stillorgan, Dubin 18 - February 26th

My Table:
I hosted a Make & Take table as well as selling my Confirmation & Communion themed cards.

Theme:
Communion & Confirmation Sale

As the theme of this fair was Communion & Confirmation, I brought mostly my religious cards. Despite some good organization, this fair wasn't well attended, but I did manage to sell some cards and more importantly I got a feel for which cards I should concentrate on for the next fair. My craft table photos are below.

Workshop Prep - Card Making Sets

My workshops may last 1.5 hours on average, but the preparation takes another 1 to 2 hours as does the sorting up of the tools and materials post workshop.  Workshop Preparation  1. I select a number of card designs to make during the workshop.  2. I make Sample Cards to use as illustration at the workshop.  3. I prepare an ingredient pack for each customer with the exact ingredients to make the sample cards. 4. I pack excess materials for customers to use to create their own designs based on their experience of making the sample card/s. 5. I pack a selection of punches, labels, stickers, paper strips and squares and my guillotines.  6. Basically, less is more in Card Making- I try to trim down what I bring for the customer's to use, as otherwise it becomes overwhelming and the resulting cards are just a haphazard collection of pretty toppings without any design. 7. Post workshop everything gets dumped on my bags for sorting later on when I get home! Sample Card...

Gatefold cards and Kraft cards

These are two of the card types we'll be making at my Card Blanks workshop. You'll discover that your choice of blank cards can provide you with inspiration to move out of your comfort zone and create your own unique designs. Email me at janmosullivan@gmail.com  for workshop details. I set up workshops on demand so if you let me know when suits you I will try to facilitate you.
